We’ve all heard stories about people who have lost massive amounts of weight in a short amount of time. These success stories can be inspiring, but did you know that some of these people gain in it all back, and then some? A recent study followed the participants of the famous weight loss reality TV show “The Biggest Loser.” The participants had lost an average of 129 pounds each, but surprisingly, six years after the show ended, most of them had regained the majority of their weight. Why? At least part of the answer comes in another of the study’s findings: the researchers found that every one of the former contestants were burning around 500 calories a day less than people of similar size and weight who had not gone on a diet.
