Low testosterone can happen for any number of reasons—in both men and women, and its effects can be devastating. This may happen in mid-life when a man reaches andropause (sometimes known as “male menopause”), but it can also happen with a similar low testosterone condition called hypogonadism. Hypogonadism can occur at any age due to a number of causes, and it can seriously impact quality of life. One of the most obvious consequences of low T is a suppressed libido and impaired sexual performance, which may negatively impact self-esteem and relationships.
