The FDA has long wrestled with the issue of testosterone replacement therapy. In 2014, it considered, but rejected, a dreaded black-box label—the strictest warning that can be posted to prescription drugs and drug products—for testosterone therapy. Then in March of this year, it hardened its stance, warning against using testosterone therapy to treat what the agency regards as the natural consequences of aging―low libido, erectile dysfunction, dwindling energy, fatigue and depression.
